Our Primary Mission

The Anchorage Search Team assists law enforcement in locating and rendering aid to those reported missing and or lost within the Municipality of Anchorage and the state of Alaska.

Other areas of support include evidence searches, natural or man-made disasters, and public or special events.

Capabilities

Trained Searchers and Incident Command Staff will respond anywhere in the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) - APD's response area - and other areas if requested via the Alaska State Troopers.

Pager system and Municipality-wide radio communications.

Trained and organized to address the following:

  • Missing or lost person searches
  • Project lifesaver
  • Evidence searches
  • Joint search operations with other area SAR organizations
  • Technical advice on planning and conducting search operations
  • Incident command for emergency operations
  • Instructors for first aid, search operations, incident command, land navigation, and field communications training programs
  • Team liaison and planning for the Municipality's Emergency Operations Center
